Tulsi Gabbard Resigns as DNC Vice-Chair

Over the weekend, Tulsi Gabbard resigned her post as vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee. Gabbard, a congresswoman from Hawaii, claimed the decision stemmed from her desire to endorse Bernie Sanders, and had nothing to do with "DNC politics." Nevertheless, last fall Gabbard and DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz had a high-profile disagreement over the Democratic presidential debate format, which led to Gabbard being "disinvited from the party's first debate."

Last week we talked about the long-standing precedent of tapping members of Congress for executive positions at the DNC/RNC. Gabbard's resignation is an interesting example of the conflict of interest that can sometimes arise.
